A Geek's Journal-1976: Friday, December 10th, 1976

In those days, sometimes I'd forego television and just listen to my AM/FM radio all evening. I first discovered the station when I found Dr Jim King playing comedy records and old time radio sitcoms. THE GREAT GILDERSLEEVE, THE LIFE OF RILEY, FIBBER McGEE AND MOLLY, THE JACK BENNY SHOW, THE SHADOW, NIGHT BEAT and a dozen others had long runs on the station (sadly often of the same limited number of syndicated episodes but, hey…).

So the podcast – it's called The Thrilling Adventure Hour and it's done in the style of old time radio serials (including the part where it is performed in front of a live audience). Basically it embodies the past and the present all in the framework of what I lovingly refer to as modern retroism with a dollop of tongue-in-cheek comedy. They have a rotating set of shows with new episodes available every Monday via iTunes and over on Nerdist. My favorites are Sparks Nevada:
